In Where Would I Be?, Hall unveiled “Careful,” one of the classic blues lines of the modern era, and “Minotaur,” which demonstrated that he was well aware of new directions in jazz. “Simple Samba” and “Vera Cruz” showed his mastery of Brazilian idioms. “I Should Care” is one of his finest unaccompanied ballad performances.
