Journey To The Center Of The Mind (CLEAR RED Colored Vinyl)
The Amboy Dukes were an American rock music band of the late 1960s and early 1970s from Detroit, Michigan, best remembered for their hit single "Journey to the Center of the Mind", and for launching the career of Ted Nugent...Journey to the Center of the Mind, The Amboy Dukes' second album, was released in April 1968 on Mainstream Records (56112 mono (promo only) and stereo S/6112 stereo). It crept into the top 100 and its highest position was #74. The single of the same name peaked at number 16 on the US Billboard Hot 100 pop chart. The album and song were classic examples of acid rock; for example, the original album cover depicted fifty different kinds of marijuana-smoking devices.

THE MOST EXCITING ELEMENT OF OUR NEW MUSIC TODAY IS THE EXPLOSIVENESS THAT BREEDS SUCCESS, NOT BECAUSE OF THE TECHNIQUE BUT SHEER AUDACITY. MUSIC AND LYRICS HAVE SOARED TO NEW HEIGHTS BECAUSE OF THE AGGRESSIVENESS OF THE YOUTH IN OUR MUSICAL SOCIETY. NO ONE EXPLAINED THE ELECTRONIC ELEMENTS TO THE NEW GROUPS OF THE LATE 60'S, THEREFORE MORE HAS BEEN ACQUIRED THROUGH EXPERIMENTING AND PROBING, TRIAL AND ERROR THAN IN THE PAST 30 YEARS.
RATHER THAN STATE UNINTERESTING FACTS ABOUT US, SUCH AS WHEN WE WERE BORN, THE COLOR OF OUR HAIR, HOW TALL WE ARE, ETC., WE WOULD LIKE TO TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO GIVE THANKS TO OUR FANS, THE PUBLIC AND THE PEOPLE WHO MADE POSSIBLE THE SUCCESS OF THE AMBOY DUKES AND THIS SECOND ALBUM.
FIRST OF ALL WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK FELIX AND EDDIE OF THE YOUNG RASCALS FOR THEIR INSPIRATION AT THE TIMES WHEN WE NEEDED IT THE MOST, THE MOTHERS OF INVENTION FOR BEING SO GREAT, AND MAX AND HYMIE OF THE STAGE RESTAURANT IN NEW YORK WHO DESERVE A SPECIAL THANKS FOR BEING SO GREAT TO US. OUR THANKS TO JOE MASSIMINO MUSIC STORE IN DETROIT.
WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK BOB SHAD, ROY CICALA, RON TERRY AND STEVE WEISS FOR THEIR CONFIDENCE, GUIDANCE AND PATIENCE, ALSO DAVE SIMON ON THE WINDSOR INTERSECTION FOR NOT GETTING UPSET WITH US WHEN TED THREW HIS GUITAR THROUGH THE WALL OF HIS CLUB. WE ESPECIALLY WANT TO THANK ALL OF OUR FRIENDS WHO FED AND CLOTHED US WHEN WE WERE UNABLE TO PROVIDE FOR OURSELVES. WE WOULD LIKE TO GIVE A VERY SPECIAL THANKS TO SOMEONE WHO DEVOTED ALL OF HIS TIME, HEART AND SOUL TO THE AMBOY DUKES, AND IF ANYONE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR OUR SUCCESS IT IS HIM, OUR MANAGER BOB HANKINS.
NOTE-THE ENTIRE SECOND SIDE OF THIS ALBUM IS ACTUALLY A STORY AND MAY BE PLAYED FROM BEGINNING TO END WITHOUT ANY PAUSES. IF SO DESIRED, ANY PARTICULAR SEGMENT OR CHAPTER AS IN ANY STORY MAY BE CUED UP AND PLAYED SEPARATELY.
